Reading

Our Reception class is passionate about nurturing a lifelong love of reading. We follow the Little Wandle Phonics scheme to build strong early reading skills, and we ask families to read with their child at least four times a week to support their progress. Throughout the day we enjoy regular story times, and children are welcome to bring in a book from home to share during our end-of-day Book Club. We also follow the CUSP Structured Storytime Curriculum, giving children access to a wide range of vocabulary-rich, high-quality texts that spark curiosity and imagination. Homework

Each Friday, Miss Grace will send home a 'Summary of Learning' explaining what our focuses have been that week. We would love for you to extend your child's learning at home. To encourage the development of language we would love your child to share with us all what they get up to at home, please send us photos on Class Dojo of what they get up to and any home learning that they do.

Reminders

P.E. takes place on Thursdays and children will get changed in school to encourage independence and responsibility; P.E. kits stay in school and are sent home for washing each half term, and earrings must be removed on this day for safety. Reading books are changed on Fridays, so please ensure they are in school. Every child should bring a filled water bottle, one healthy morning snack (yoghurt, cheese or a cereal bar – we are a nut-free school), one piece of fruit for the afternoon, and a waterproof coat with a hood every day.
